On the Road with Reinsfelder: HI-STORMS Bound for Baltimore and Beyond

Some hauls carry more than weight — they carry purpose. This week, Mark, Danny, and Jason took on a move that was as meaningful as it was massive, transporting a set of HI-STORM storage modules headed overseas to the Krško Nuclear Power Plant.

Each HI-STORM tower came in at 14 feet wide, 15 feet 4 inches tall, and roughly 70,000 pounds, pushing the trucks to a gross weight of 125,000 pounds. These aren’t everyday loads. These are precision-built nuclear-grade components that demand steady hands, sharp awareness, and drivers who understand exactly what they’re moving.

Good thing we had the right three on the job.

Moving the Big Steel

From the moment the HI-STORMS were set on the trailers, the size and shape of the towers defined the entire move. At over 15 feet tall, every bridge, ramp, and underpass had to be carefully cleared. At 14 feet wide, lane control and traffic spacing became part of every mile. And with the weight pushing the trucks to 125,000 lbs, every grade, curve, and stop required patience, planning, and experience.

Mark, Danny, and Jason handled it with the kind of confidence that comes from years on the road and countless oversize miles behind them.

The Run to Baltimore

The convoy made its way toward the Port of Baltimore, moving steady and methodical as they worked through towns, highways, and tight transitions. Bringing HI-STORMS to the port is no small task — the port environment itself demands precision, communication, and a calm approach to staging oversized freight among tight lanes, cranes, and ship crews.

By the time the trucks rolled through the port gates, the job had already been a success. But seeing those massive HI-STORMS lifted off the trailers and prepared for shipment overseas made the moment even better. It’s not every day you watch freight you delivered get loaded onto a vessel bound for a nuclear power facility halfway across the world.

From Reinsfelder to Krško

What started with three trucks here at home will soon become critical infrastructure in Slovenia. There’s something impressive about that — knowing a haul that begins on American highways ends up supporting a nuclear plant thousands of miles away.

And it’s drivers like Mark, Danny, and Jason who make it possible. Their professionalism, patience, and attention to detail ensured these HI-STORMS reached the port safely and exactly as required.

Another Big Job Done Right

Whether it’s a local oversized move or a shipment bound for an international nuclear facility, Reinsfelder drivers bring the same level of care and expertise to every mile. Mark, Danny, and Jason showed that once again on this haul — moving high-value, high-stakes freight with the precision it deserves.

Another successful delivery, another job to be proud of, and another reminder of what our team is capable of.
